What happens, if we fail to think and lose one’s Intellect..
Often the terms intellect and intelligence are used interchangeably and misrepresented. It’s often misconstrued for an intelligent person to be an intellect. But it’s rather not so.
Just to clear the air to those of us who are caught up with this syndrome, Intellect is the ability to think, apply logic, reason with & understanding things objectively. Intelligence on the other hand is the acquired knowledge that we gain from all kind of external factors like reading books, online medium etc. which makes one well informed. Intellect on the other hand has to be developed internally by oneself. In spite of living in such a digital age we don’t have great many programs or mediums to develop one’s intellect. Nevertheless we have ample resources to keep us informed about all the latest happenings around the world and updating us with the latest developments in all fields and sectors within the next split second of their happening. In this digital age we have all means to learn new things, gain knowledge and enable us to become knowledgeable. But, how strong are our mechanisms and system towards dissecting the knowledge gained and implementing them in our daily life.
Will this current model of acquired intelligence and technology suffice the entrenching quest of mankind for progress and what the future history has in store for us?
Being informed and being able to logically reason with the information gained are two important factors for progress. If we develop high intellect quotient we probably will have very less fake news, fake media and all the latest A.I. based deep fakes. This is just the good old root cause analysis we have all read and long forgotten. Unfortunately as our devices got smarter, somehow we have all but become mundane and lost our ability to think.
Without the power of intellect the future looks very bleak to the less innovators and the jobs of people, which are monotonous and less innovative. The computers and automation have the ability to replicate and reproduce 10X and 20X intelligent prowess of Human Beings without feeling any fatigue and emotional discomfort. We already have self driving cars, automated factory lines & chat bots which were considered complicated even for Human Beings a few decades back. We have seen significant advancements in the field of Quantum Computing in the past few years. All of which will lead to computers performing more complicated and innovative tasks with much ease compared to Humans.
On the other hand, People with high intellectual ability will have the power to wield the magic wand controlling all these bots and computers irrespective of whatever computing power they might hold. We must demonstrate USER as the supreme commander to any kind of intricate computing device as one of its primary dogma. In order for this to be embodied we must have Human Beings with high intellect level who can command and reason with this silicon beings.
Let’s look at a couple of aspects that could be part of our future history:
We might establish contact with Alien Life Forms. We could well be starting our space travel for common man wherein Human Beings might go to other planets for business, commerce and pleasure. We might see Aerial Farming and artificial production of natural resources like sand, water etc. as we might have drained most of Earth’s natural resources.
In order for us to combat and put up with such a future, We need to develop our intellect quotient more than our intelligent quotient. As a Human ecosystem we must assimilate newer and more profound ways to develop one’s intellect. Probably, the current generation may not live long to witness this future history but we need to imbibe procedures which are going to develop the intellect of the future generation who will stand witness to most of the aforementioned second order effects.
Let’s not enable Mankind become a slave to Silicon & other Worldly Beings!!
